A parent-led home-learning app to help KS2 families support short, positive curriculum practice at home — with no cost, no teacher setup and no staff workload for schools.
Built by a Cardiff-based team, starting with local primary schools before wider rollout.
Uses Oak National Academy Curriculum API · curriculum-aligned KS2 practice
The pilot is designed so schools can review the information and, if suitable, choose whether to signpost it to families without creating extra workload for staff.
Schools do not need to create accounts, upload student data or integrate with existing systems.
Teachers do not need to assign work, mark answers, monitor dashboards or manage parent queries.
Parent account setup, child profiles and access support are handled directly by Bucket Filler.
All parent onboarding, technical questions and ongoing support are handled by the Bucket Filler team.
Bucket Filler has been designed for home use with families and children aged 7–11. Every decision has been made with safeguarding and parent control at the centre.
No ads — children will not see advertising inside the app.
No child email addresses required — children use anonymous profiles under the parent account.
Anonymous child profiles — no child data is visible to other users.
Parent-approved rewards only — children cannot redeem anything without parent approval.
Parent Login PIN for shared-device use — protects parent controls on family devices.
Parent-only progress summaries — children only see their own learning view.
No school data upload required — schools do not share any student data with Bucket Filler.
No school system integration — no Hwb provisioning, no MIS connection, no school network login.
No in-app purchases — rewards are set and approved by parents only.
Children practise KS2 topics and answer short curriculum-aligned questions, build confidence, earn points and work towards rewards chosen and approved by their own parents.
Parents can see how their child is progressing, approve rewards and support regular practice at home — without turning home learning into a battle.
Parents can see strengths, gaps and completed practice at a glance, without digging through reports.
Children redeem points only for rewards created and approved by their own parent. Nothing is automatic.
Parents manage profiles, rewards and access from their own account. Children do not have their own login email.

The process for schools is straightforward. Schools can review the pilot, decide whether to signpost it, and Bucket Filler handles parent setup and support from there.
The school reviews this page and the 1-page parent information sheet we send on request.
If suitable, the school chooses whether to share the information sheet with KS2 families. Nothing else is required of the school.
Parents who are interested create accounts directly with Bucket Filler and set up their child profiles. The school is not involved.
Bucket Filler provides parent onboarding, technical support and all queries throughout the pilot year.
There is no cost to the school during the funded pilot year. The school is not required to purchase, renew or manage subscriptions. Schools are not obligated to continue after the pilot period ends. Any future options would be communicated clearly and in advance.
If your school decides the pilot is suitable to share, we provide simple wording and parent-facing information so staff do not need to create their own materials.
A concise, school-safe overview for parents explaining the pilot and how to join.
Ready-to-send wording for school newsletters, email or app notifications to parents.
Step-by-step parent-facing guide so families can get started without contacting school staff.
All technical queries and parent support are handled by Bucket Filler directly.
We are happy to answer questions from the headteacher, KS2 lead or school business manager directly.
Bucket Filler was created by Awen Software Ltd, a Cardiff-based software company. Co-founder Shy Rahman is a Cardiff parent of three children, with one currently at primary school in Cardiff and two who previously attended Cardiff primary schools.
Bucket Filler was built from a simple idea: small, positive learning steps at home can build confidence over time. We are starting with Cardiff primary schools because this community is where the product began — and where we want to gather honest, meaningful feedback before expanding further.
Bucket Filler is currently going through the Educational App Store endorsement process. This section will be updated with the badge and full review details once published.
